Ten-Year Forecast for the Maintenance and Repair Aftermarket
The 2025 commercial fleet and maintenance forecast indicates that over 21,900 new commercial aircraft will be delivered globally during the 10-year forecast period of 2025–2034.
The narrow-body aircraft segment will dominate the market, with the Airbus A320neo family outpacing the Boeing 737 MAX family; these two families will account for 70% of all new aircraft deliveries expected between 2025 and 2034. In the wide-body segment, the Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 will lead in terms of numbers.
Airbus is expected to deliver over 11,200 new aircraft during the forecast period, representing 51% of the total, while Boeing is projected to deliver more than 8,800 aircraft, capturing a 40% share of total deliveries. Consequently, these two major manufacturers will account for 91% of global aircraft deliveries during the forecast period. The forecast projects a 3.1% fleet growth, reaching 44,600 aircraft by 2033.
Forecast findings and independent data indicate that the aftermarket maintenance sector will see demand approaching $1.4 trillion. Driven by increased utilization and the extended service life of engines and airframes, the engine market is expected to generate $557.6 billion in demand, requiring over 95,000 overhauls throughout the decade.
